About the Business
The Black Lion is a rural pub in Llanfair Caereinion, Mid Wales. The pub has been a popular venue in the area for decades for beer and food. The pub is currently being run as a not-for-profit business by the local football club, with the money raised from sales going towards supporting grassroots football in the area.
About the project
When the pub was taken over by the football club in April 2020, it was re-branded by the organisers with a new logo and indoor décor throughout. I was asked to support them with the social media and once established, created a new re-brand to coincide with new management during the summer of 2022.
Social Media Marketing
It was a very challenging time to take over a pub during the pandemic so the marketing task was an important one to try and hit the ground running once it was able to open it’s doors again. Initially, using Facebook and Instagram, we built up a following both locally and with tourists who visit the local caravan sites in order to create a wide customer audience. Working with the initial management, we were able to create clear and simple posts using the new branding and colours to promote food and offers as well as events such as charity quizzes.
New management took over in the summer of 2022 so we took this opportunity to re-brand our social media posts to coincide with new menus and ideas. The pub is a popular place to watch sport so live games are advertised as well as special offers during certain games which we helped to promote. Working with the management we continue to create relevant and fresh content to keep customers engaged.
Overview
This has been a rewarding project, helping a local organisation that has the best interests of local people at heart by providing grassroots football. The business continues to grow and now that things have relaxed after the pandemic, the business can thrive again like in previous years.
